Historic Preservation Month Shines a Light on Fort DuPont

May is Historic Preservation Month, a time to recognize the places, stories, and shared history that shape our communities. Historic places help strengthen communities, inspire connection, and preserve the stories that shape who we are.

Fort DuPont remains an important part of Delaware’s historical landscape, connecting generations through its military history, architecture, open spaces, and community traditions. Ongoing preservation efforts help ensure the Fort continues to serve as a place where history, recreation, education, and community life come together.

This year’s Preservation Month theme from the National Trust encourages communities to celebrate the places that tell the full American story and remind us of how far we have come.

You can help support the future of Fort DuPont by attending events, volunteering, sharing the Fort’s story with others, or supporting ongoing preservation and community efforts through the Friends of Fort DuPont.

Together, we can help ensure Fort DuPont continues to serve as a place for learning, recreation, reflection, and community connection for generations to come.
