The Delaware in Conversation series continues with “Delaware’s Signers and Slavery: It’s Complicated” on Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30 PM at the Delaware City Library. This thought-provoking program examines the lives of Delaware’s signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, exploring their complex relationships with slavery and how those contradictions shaped the early nation.

The talk is presented by Eric Mease, a historian and educator with deep expertise in Delaware history and constitutional interpretation. His work focuses on helping audiences grapple honestly with the past, encouraging discussion rather than easy answers, and placing Delaware’s history within its broader national context.

This free community event is presented in partnership with Friends of Fort DuPont, the Delaware City Library, and Delaware Humanities. Snacks will be provided, and all are welcome.
